Camille is best known for her role as the witty and glamorous Camille in Netflix’s ‘Emily in Paris’, but as expected, this was only the beginning for her, as she is now standing out in the world of beauty and fashion and is ready to “show some range as an actor,” as she says.

In this conversation, Razat speaks about her love for a good baguette, the power behind a red lipstick, boundaries and her high hopes for a calm, countryside future… but not just yet.

L’BEAUTÉ When and how did you know you wanted to be an actress?
CAMILLE RAZAT It actually wasn’t the plan at all! I originally wanted to be a war reporter—I even passed the entrance exam for journalism school. But before committing to that path, I moved to Paris at 18 and thought, “Why not try something else for a bit?” I figured theater could be a great way to build confidence, and it might even help with journalism. And then… I fell in love with acting. Life had a different plan for me, and I’m so grateful it did.

LB How has your life changed since starring in ‘Emily in Paris’?
CR I’ve had amazing opportunities, and I’ve met people I never dreamed of working with. But to be honest, it’s also a blessing and a bit of a curse. I’m proud of the show, but I don’t want to be labeled “Emily in Paris” for the rest of my life—especially as a French actress, it’s easy to get pigeonholed. It was a beautiful experience, but now it’s time to show some range. I actually have two new series coming out in November: ‘Les Disparues de la Gare’ on Disney+, which is a dark thriller based on a true story, and ‘Nero’, where I play a witch! So, very different vibes from ‘Emily’. But at the core, I’m still Camille—just with more frequent flyer miles.

LB What has been your latest “oh my God, I’m doing it” moment?
CR For me, it’s more when I’m traveling. I’m always amazed by how wide and diverse the world is—how many cultures, people, and places I still need to discover. It’s exciting and humbling at the same time. When I was in Mexico, for example, I absolutely adored the city. The colors, the food, the energy… I had a moment where I thought, “Wow, I’m really lucky to be here.”

LB What has your character in ‘Emily in Paris’ taught you about yourself? And how about Claire Vallois in ‘Prodigieuses’?
CR Camille reminded me to embrace boldness, to say what you feel, and wear whatever you want, even if it’s completely over the top! Claire Vallois, on the other hand, taught me about restraint, strength, and vulnerability. It’s fascinating how characters reflect different parts of yourself back at you.

LB Your relationship with the beauty industry has always been a big part of your career. What inspired this in the first place?
CR I’ve always seen beauty as a form of self-expression. I grew up surrounded by strong women who didn’t follow trends but had their own style. That inspired me to see beauty not as perfection, but as personality.

LB What’s your all-time beauty hack?
CR Dunking my face in a bucket of ice and fresh water. No joke—it wakes you up, tightens everything, and gives you that fresh glow. Plus, it’s free! (laughs)

LB Three (non-hair) products you can’t live without?

CR Augustinus Bader—The Rich Cream is a miracle, and their SPF is amazing too. Then I’d add red lipstick (for emergency “I need to feel powerful” moments), all the Victoria Beckham makeup is absolutely amazing, and a great perfume—because scent is memory.

LB Why do you think French style is so praised all over the world?

CR Because it looks effortless —even when it isn’t! (winks) It’s about confidence, attitude, and not overthinking it. We don’t follow fashion blindly; we make it our own.

LB What would you say are key steps to being a French stylish girl?
CR Be yourself. Truly. Enhance your natural features, don’t hide them. There’s something so powerful in embracing who you are without fear. Style isn’t about perfection —it’s about personality. Then if you want to throw on a bold accessory or a vintage blazer… why not? But confidence is always the best outfit.

LB How do you stay so true to your French roots?
CR By never skipping a good baguette, staying curious about art and culture, and keeping that little “je ne sais quoi” in everything I do.

LB What’s the key to staying sane amidst the flashes, social media and all the pressure?

CR Boundaries, friends who remind you who you are when things get noisy and taking breaks—preferably somewhere with no Wi-Fi and good wine.
LB What would be your advice to young girls who want to pursue a career in fashion and acting?

CR Be kind, be persistent, and protect your authenticity like a precious gem. Don’t try to fit into a mold—you’re meant to break it.

LB What’s the first thing that comes to mind when I say the word “future”?
CR Hope. And maybe… a countryside house with a big garden where we can have a picnic. Oh, and also a lake, I would imagine myself taking my kayak and going for a little hike and after a good swim.

“Don’t try to fit into a mold you’re meant to break it.”
